He was so protective of the plant with its white, fragrant flowers that he forbade anyone from taking even a small branch; however, one day a young gardener decided to give a sprig to his fiancée, who planted it in her garden where the plant grew lush and strong. The couple began selling sprigs to everyone who was captivated by its scent and beauty, making their fortune, and jasmine gradually spread to gardens all over Italy. These earrings pay tribute to this flower of delicate beauty.
